9/23 Wednesday Night Primetime’s Premiere Week!

Wednesday’s Premiere week is finally here! Yes all your favorite shows from ABC’s family comedy block to FOX’s Family Soap Opera drama Empire have return for new seasons!  Not much has changed from The Big Four’s Wednesday night.  ABC and NBC previous series are in the same time-slot this year.  CBS has Survivor Premiering for an 1 ½ followed by The Finale of Big Brother!  Next week Criminal Minds will return for its 11^th season followed by the New Series Code Black!  Only FOX has a New Fall schedule for the night.  New Series Rosewood “starring Morris Chestnut,” and The Return of EMPIRE will premiere this Fall!

ABC’s Wednesday Comedy Block saw better rating last season than in previous year.  The Goldberg and black-ish have hold up from veteran series The Middle and Modern Family. The only show that could be in danger is Nashville.

The Middle - 1.8-2.2

The Middle premieres its 7^th season this year and from the looks of thing, the series will likely be around for next season if the rating stay similar to last season!  The show Premiered last year with 2.0 demographic and ended off with a 1.8 for its season finale this past spring!  One of ABC’s reliable shows.

The Goldbergs- 2.0-2.4

Last season, The Goldbergs performed way better than its season 1 ratings (thanks to the Wednesday comedy block).  The show is likely to do better than The Middle because last season the ratings were higher from having early Modern Family viewers.

Modern Family- 2.8-3.2

Still ABC’s top scripted program based on key demographics, however the show is falling year to year.  The 6^th season of Modern Family premiered with a 3.8 demo and fell to a 2.3 (series low) for it season finale.  I’m thinking Modern Family could rise back in the low 3.0 based on premiere week, but we won’t see it in the mid 3.0 this season.  Modern Family used to Reign Wednesdays, but now it’s first runner up (Read my FOX predictions).

Black-ish- 2.5 at best

Black-ish returns for its second season on ABC and I’m surprised ABC’s airing it at this timeslot because it competing with Empire.  The first season ended with a 1.6 series low but since I think Modern Family will be up in the 3.0 range black-ish shouldn’t have a problem premiering in the 2.0 range.

Nashville- 1.3 at Best

The show finished its 3^rd season with a 1.2.  Pretty low for a Big 4 network, but the show got was pretty much guaranteed a 4^th season based on syndication.  If a series is renewed for a third season there is a 90% certainly that the series will be picked up for a 4^th season.  Nashville escaped the cancellation bear back in season 2, but with it low ratings, this could be the last season for the series!

Survivor- 2.2

Survivor season/cycle premieres its 31^st season and we could see this show lasting until its 50^th season!  Solid contender.  Today the series usually premieres in the low 2.0 but stays consist throughout the season.  No signs of cancelations and YES it’s going to last longer than American Idol and possibly The Voice too!

Big Brother- 1.6-2.1

Summer series will stay steady throughout the season, but could be as low as 1.6 with Empire conflictions.

Mysteries of Laura- 

Nothing greater than a 1.1

The only freshman scripted series that got renewed from NBC (I know it pretty pathetic) not because of good rating, but for fillers.  NBC needed a show to be aired on Wednesday and they happen to keep Laura on this night.   Season 2 has a 13 episode order but should be reduced to 8 or less with those 0.9-1.1 ratings from last year.

Law and Order SVU- 

Nothing Greater than a 2.0

NBC longest lasting series airs its 17^th season!  Last season the show opened up with a 2.2 demo and ended the year with a 1.4.  The past 2 year, SUV has premiered way above its season finale and I think SVU will premiere up from its finale, but not enough to crack 2.0! Maybe it will crack a 2.0+ with crossover episodes with the Chicago series.

Don’t think this show will crack a 2.0 but will be up from its previous season finale’s 1.4

Rosewood-  It's a tough call but I’m saying 2.1+

The new series of Rosewood has the pre-Empire slot and many people want to know why?  Well FOX kept Empire where it is because the network feel that Empire’s fine where it is.  Throughout the summer, FOX has promoted the Rosewood through commercials, talk shows, and posters so it has a good chance of premiering in the 2.0’s.  The question is will people want to watch Rosewood before Empire, or will it flop like Minority Report?

Empire- 7.8+

The WAIT IS OVER!!!! The Season 2 Part 1 Premiere of Empire is finally here!  After a 6 month since the spring finale Empire is BACK!  There’s no doubt that EMPIRE will Win the night FOX but what’s more important is will be get a weekly increase of demo from the show? 

According to variety.com Advertisers bid that Empire will be the top scripted show of this season and will average a 5.5 rating based on live+SD (same Day) viewing.  I agree that the show will be the top scripted show this year, but I think the average will be greater! 6.5+.

Here’s Why.  

Last season, Empire’s ratings increased throughout the whole first season! It premiered at a 3.8 and ended with a 6.9 and average a 5.09 from 12 episodes! Since the Season 2 will consist of 18 episodes and split into 2 parts we might see a decline, but I think the average will be higher that what the advertisers are predicting.  It’s obvious that Empire will break into the 7.0.  The question is will it still increase weekly or will the premiere be its highest peak?

Top Model will be steady at a 0.4 this week.  With the other networks airing their Fall Shows, Top Model will have it tough reaching back to a 0.6 season high.

9/22 Tuesday Night Primetime’s Premiere Week Predictions!

I believe Tuesday night is the most competitive night throughout the whole schedule!  You got The Voice competing with NCIS and two of the most talked about New Series this year, ABC’s The Muppets and FOX’s Scream Queens.   Now FOX has a lot of faith in Scream Queens by giving it a 2 Hour Series premiere and Next week, it will air in its original timeslot at 9:00. 

Here are my Prediction on each show based on the Big Four network and The CW!

ABC:

8:00pm

The Muppets – 2.8-3.4

Originally I thought that the series would open up with no greater than a 4.0 but I’m having doubts based on its competition.  The Voice (Tues.) will be its main competition since the shows draw similar audience.  Both shows I would say attract family viewers (kids, teens, parents, and adults) will watch this show.  The Voice will be in the mid 3.0 or higher range and IDK if The Muppets will premiere greater than The Voice.  What’s also holding this show back is the ABC’s Tuesday night history.  ABC’s Tuesday nights are one of its lowest rated nights from the network, but since The Muppets was ABC’s most tweeted New Series show, The Muppets should premiere well for ABC.

Fresh off The Boat – 1.8-2.2

The Series finished off its first season average for ABC.  Even though the series was not a part ABC Wednesday’s Comedy block the series was above ABC’s past comedy series on Tuesday (Trophy Wife).  The show’s season finale of its first season ended with a 1.5 demo.  Usually I predict that a show will premiere steady or slight above or below it’s season finale, but I think FOTB will premiere up from it’s season finale based on where I see The Muppet premiering.  If The Muppets premiere in the low-mid 2.0 range, them Fresh Off the Boat will premiere under my prediction.

Dancing With The Stars Results – No Greater than a 1.3

Dancing isn’t usually a Tuesday anyone, but ABC’s doing a special airing for Dancing.  IKW they are doing this.  If they think premiere will is too much for M.A.R.V.E.L they should have cancelled the show because it’s gonna tank even further this year. 

I think talking about M.A.R.V.E.L. is interesting than Dancing’s rating.  M.A.R.V.E.L. ended its season 2 with a 1.3 from its 2 hour season finale which is pathetic for a series that started off with a 4.7 back in its Series premiere in 2013.  Next week M.A.R.V.E.L. premieres and I’m giving it a 1.5 at best but I won’t be surprise if it can’t even reach a 1.3 because it’s going head to head with The Voice and Scream Queens and those shows are sure to be the top shows during that hour. 

CBS

8:00pm

NCIS – 2.5 at best

Ended with a 2.0 last season will premiere up, but this season it will be under 2.0 (an aging show).

NCIS: New Orleans - 2.1 at best

Spin-off of the NCIS Mothership, only does well because of Mothership (NCIS: LA dropped significantly once moved to Mondays)

Limitless – 1.8-2.1

I has got some buzz, but I fell that since it’s after NCIS: NO it won’t do up to its potential.  With a stronger lead-in like NCIS it would do better.

NBC

8:00pm

The Voice – 3.1-3.5

NBC’s Amazing Grace. The only show that keeps NBC alive excluding Sunday NFL.  Will do well as always, but will be down from last year.

Neil Patrick Harris: Best Time With – 2.0-2.5

Up from last week’s premiere, but once it moves to 8:00pm it will fall just like Mysteries Of Laura!

FOX:

Scream Queens – nothing greater than a 4.0

OK so I’m going big with my prediction of Scream Queens only because FOX has been showing teasers since early 2015.  FOX has promoted this series like it’s the next Big Show since Empire.  The cast is ridiculous.  Emma Roberts, Jamie Lee Curtis as the Main Character.  Keke Palmer, Lea Michele, Ariana Grande, Nick Jonas Niecy Nash and more cast members.  This show is one of the most highly anticipated show of the Fall and seeing the teasers since early 2015, the show should have massive numbers from its Premiere.  This show would mostly attract female and younger audience and this show has potential to be the next young-teen hit series since Glee’s glory days.  If this show doesn’t make it in the mid 3.0, then IDK how the rest of the 13 episodes will play out.

The only competition it has is The Voice in which they will go head to head throughout the whole Fall schedule! So if Scream Queens beats The Voice consistently, then we will see another Season!

9/21/2015 Monday’s Broadcast Network Fall Predictions

Hey TV followers, this is The Gladiator here posting my predictions for the Primetime Premieres for Monday 9/21.  Comment on my predictions and tell me your predictions!


ABC:

Dancing – 1.7-2.0  

Last week, the show premiered weak and with the other networks premiering this week, I see Dancing stumbling as well as Castle!

Castle- 1.4-1.6  

Ended with a 1.4 for its season finale, I see Castle premiering at a 1.6 best.  It usually never beats DWTS and is usually down about 5-20% from its Lead-in

CBS:

TBBT- 4.4-4.8

Still a top contender, but year to year the series has been dropping.  On Monday last year, the one hour season premiered with an average of a 5.45 up from it 4.92 season finale back in May of 2014.  The recent season finale ended at a 3.7 demo.  TBBT isn’t making it back up in the 5.0 this season based on last years performance however, Today, shows that perform in the 3.0 are great and TBBT is renewed for 2 more seasons so I expect it to do well this year and still end the year off in the top 10

Life of Pieces – 2.7-3.1

CBS tradition - premieres well after TBBT lead-in, but just like The Miller and The Odd Couple won’t do well w/o it’s lead!

Scorpion – 2.2-2.5

Ended last season with a 2.2 could stay steady, or could boost since it’s premiere week.  IDT it will have a big boost to in the upper 2.0’s because of the other network’s shows and TBBT isn’t an hour premiere this year.

NCIS: LA – 1.4-1.7  

Ended at a 1.4 from its season finale, don’t see it reaching a 2.0 for its premiere.

NBC:

The Voice -  3.4-3.8  

Based on previous year, IDT The Voice will crack a 4.0. In 2014, it premiered with a 4.1, 2013 Premiered with a 5.1 and year to year, it’s dropped about 20% so I expect a 15-20% drop!

Blindspot – 2.8-3.0  

Simple, The Voice lead-in should boost the show’s ratings up, but will it be a series success like The Blacklist or will it fall like the majority of NBC’s series from last season?

FOX:

Gotham – Less than 2.0    

Only because it ended with a 1.7 and I doubt it will rise up from the season finale.  I also think that this show will join the FOX Monday tradition and S2 will tank and be under 2.0 this year.

Sleepy Hollow - S1 3.5 v.s S2 2.0

Minority Report – 2.2-2.5

I’m keeping it safe and saying that M.R. will start off fare/solid because I feel like this show should perform well, but there has been mixed reviews and many people some love it, like it, or even hate it.  Since the series is based on the movie that starred Tom Cruise and it’s Sci-Fi, it should do well for it’s premiere; but it could totally bump because of a weak lead-in from Gotham and it’s competing with The Voice which gains viewer on the second hour and also it’s against CBS’ Scorpion. Or, once again with the FOX tradition, it could do well during S1 and could possibly make it in the upper 2’s or close to the 3.0 or greater.

The CW:

Penn & Teller: Fool Us – 0.5

Easy a steady show that has never been below a 0.5 even with stiff competition.

Whose’s Line – 0.4-0.5

It’s usually below or sometimes even with Fool Us last week’s 0.3 was a fluke.

Significant Mother  - 0.2 no further detail.  

Introduction

Before I begin writing about my television topics, I just want to introduce myself and why I decided to create this account.  My blog name is The Gladiator, for those familiar with the name, I am the same Gladiator that comments under the tvbythenumber.zap2it.com.  I grew up watching t.v. and never quite understood how and why shows on television series got renewed and cancelled.  It wasn’t until the late 2011 where I began falling television ratings and now I have a better understanding on  how and why shows get renewed and cancelled.  Because of this interest, I’ve decided to make a blogspot account that reflects around the television entertainment industry.  This blog will mostly reflect around television ratings from the broadcasting, cable, and premium cable channels.  Some more topics that will be included are television rating predictions, network news, my opinions on some news, and prediction on award shows. 

I’m new to making blogs, so any comments or any suggestions on how to make this blogspot a better one fill free to give me some suggestion on how to make a better blog.
