2 week after the official fall 2015
schedule of the Big Four Network premiered the majority of their shows, The CW’s
Fall shows’ Premiere week is finally here.
Unlike the other networks, The CW’s ratings are much lower than the
other four major networks. The CW receives
less viewers than the other networks because it is a smaller network. They only are 10 hours of original series
during Primetime (M-F 8:00-10:00) and is said that smaller towns and cities are
CW audience. So my predictions of The CW’s
rating numbers will be lower than the other predictions I sent a week ago.
The Flash 1.6 or Greater
Tuesday Oct. 6th
The CW officially airs their new
schedule on Tuesday and starting the night off is The networks highest Rated
and Viewed show The Flash.
Last season, The DC Comics’ Hit Series,
The Flash opened up substantially high for The network. It premiered with a 1.9 demographics of
adults 18-49 with a total overall viewership of 4.83 million. This may seem low or decent on the big four
networks, but having numbers like this on The CW is rare. It wasn’t only the network’s highest rated
show, but it out beat lots of shows on the Big Four like, Parks and
Recreations, Selfie, MARVEL, Chicago Fire, New Girl, The Mindy Project, etc on
Tuesday Nights.
The season 1 Finale of The Flash ended high
as well with a 1.5 adults 18-49 demographics.
I predict that the show will Premiere tomorrow with a 1.6 or
greater. Nothing less. The only competition it has is The Voice and
maybe NCIS, but they won’t conflict with the show. The Flash has loyal audience.
iZombie 0.7 @ Best
DC Comic Mid-season series iZombie will
air it’s 2nd season and it’s Fall debut after The Flash. Last season, iZombie was paired with The
Flash and opened with a 0.8 adults 18-49 demographics with 2.28 million
viewers. These numbers are lower
compared to The Flash, but, since once again The CW is a small network, it is
expected for CW shows to have ratings under a 1.0 demo.
If a CW show maintain their adults 18-49 demo
with at least a 0.5 or greater, then this mean it will likely be renewed next
season. iZombie’s lowest ratings were a
0.5 (also its finale numbers too).
Ending with a 0.5 isn’t that good nor bad, but the series aired through
June w/o an original Flash episode.
Usually finales of shows that are premiere from the fall-spring period
end in mid- May. But iZombie did not,
just like The 100 which also premiered mid-season and ended it first season in
June (The 100 aired after Arrow).
My guess is that iZombie will open up
with a 0.7 at best. Unlike The 100,
iZombie has a bigger lead-in and but also did better after The Flash ended in
mid-May. It’s made it to a 0.7 w/o The
Flash as a lead-in. The 100 reached a
0.6 w/o Arrow, so I expect iZombie to be higher than The 100’s premiere this
year.
Arrow 1.0 @ Best
The return of Arrow (My Favorite show
is finally back with its’ 4th season. I think Arrow will open up with 1.0 adults
18-49 at best. Last year, Arrow opened
up with a 1.0 demo and rose to a 1.4 series high (with The Flash/Arrow
crossover episode) and ended with a 1.0 demo from its’ 3rd season
finale.
During the season 3 finale, The
Arrow (soon to be the Green Arrow) said goodbye to his alter-ego and decided to
live the life he’d always wanted. The scene
ends with Oliver Queen and Felicity (his girlfriend) driving to paradise, but
this season will it last?
Supernatural 0.7-0.9
Supernatural, The CW longest lasting
scripted series on The CW (and the old WB) airs it 11th season after
Arrow. I don’t like it will premiere
above a 1.0 this week because it dropped during as low as a 0.6 from it 1.1 premiere.
It’s still a top contender, finishing as that
3rd top rated show on the network only behind DC comic series Arrow
#2 and The Flash #1. Supernatural might première
at a 0.8, but how low will it go this season?
The Vampire Diaries 0.7 at Best
Thursday night becomes Vampire
night. The Vampire Diaries and spin-off
series of The Vampire Diaries, The Originals pair up to become a 2 hour night
of blood sucking romance.
TVD will open its 7th season
w/o lead actress Nina Dobrev. She exit
the show on the season 6 finale. Now the
focus will be mainly on the two brothers Stefan and Damen. The series that was once the networks top
rated show for 5 season has dropped. Season
6 was the series lowest season. It has been as low as a 0.5 based on key
demographics adults 18-49.
I think the
show will open up with a 0.7 at best only because Elena Gilbert won’t be on the
show. Fans might want to see how the
show is w/o their lead actress, but I won’t be surprised if it can’t reach a
0.7. It seems like Vampires have run
their course on The CW, Super heroes are taking over.
The Originals 0.6 at Best
The Originals I’m saying a 0.6 at best
because the show is a spin-off and has never out beaten it’s mothership. The
Originals has seen been as low as a 0.4 demo and season 2 dropped over 30% from
season 1. However The Originals is
likely to be on for one more season due to syndication so fans we will see at
least one vampire show next for the 2016-2017 schedule.
Reign will receive a 0.3 on Fridays and
here’s why.
After 2 seasons of weak performance on
Thursdays after TVD, the network has decided to move Reign Fridays. Season 2 of Reign opened with a 0.4, saw a
0.5 high, but ended low with a 0.3. I
thought that this series would have been cancelled because its’ ratings are so
low. But it’s The CW you never know with
this network.
*(The CW is a merged
network, 50% CBS Corporation and 50% Warner Bros. will talk more about this in
the future.) Reign is a CBS production
series and Audience skew to more W.B. shows than CBS. All the Tuesday – Thursday shows are W.B.
owned production show. The only good
thing about the lack of CBS show is that if a CBS and W.B. series are low rated
and have similar ratings, the network will likely prefer a CBS than W.B. show
due to the lack of CBS showings.
Example Beauty and The Beast is a CBS
owned production series and is one of the network’s lowest rated series. It got picked up for a 3rd and 4th season from the network
for a summer series. Despite receiving a
series low of a 0.2, because it’s a CBS series, the network renewed it based on
CBS benefits.
Reign too is on its 3rd
season, but renewal is not a certainty because this season, the show was only
picked up for 18 episodes down four episode from a full season order of 22. Reign too could also see a fourth season, the
question is will it be back on in the Fall next year, or will it be a summer
series like BATB and get CBS benefits.
America’s Next Top Model 0.4 at best
America’s Next Top Model will receive at
least a 0.4. After airing a new episode
last week on its new night (Friday) the show received a 0.4. Top Model has
loyal fans and usually remains at a healthy 0.4 on Fridays. Top Model shouldn’t have a problem building
on Reign’s 0.3 lead-in as it did with the finale of Masters of Illusions’
0.3. Reign and Top Model seem
compatible. Audience targets are drawn
to female so the show shouldn’t go lower than 0.4. If the show is lower than a 0.3-0.4, then
that means Reign is a terrible lead-in show and should swap timeslots with Top
Model.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend 0.6 at best.
The only new series airing this fall
from the network. It’s kind of unusual
for a broadcast network to air only one new show in the fall, but again this is
the CW, nothing makes since. In fact,
this series was not on the pilot pick up order from the network. This series was originally a failed pick up
series order from cable network Showtime.
The CW had other series that we set to be potential series orders,
however 2/5 they liked (saved for midseason) and they happened to like this
series too.
The show focuses on a successful
Harvard/Yale Graduate students who works and lives in New York City. She is depressed because they one guy she
loves rejected her (10 year ago from high school). She sees him and she decides to moves to
California after he states that he’s moving there. This show is a musical-comedy series where we
will hear some type of Broadway numbers.
Personally, I like the show, it’s
funny, stupid, doesn’t make since, and makes me laugh. I like these kinds of comedy because it’s not
what u expect. I hope it does well for
the network. It tough to say because social
media has mixed reviews, but the show won me over, so I hope it does well.
Jane
The Virgin 0.5-0.6
Golden Globe actress winner Gina Rodriguez
returns as Jane. The first season stayed
consistently in the 0.4-0.6 range. Last
season, the show ended with Jane giving birth to a baby boy and was stolen by
Sin Rosetro. The second season might
open up to a 0.6 with the whereabouts of the baby and where the kidnapper is
taking him. Also, the only way I see the
show performing under a 0.5 is if Crazy Ex-Girlfriend bombs the ratings!
MIDSEASON
SERIES
THE 100, Containment, and DC’s Legends
or Tomorrow are to air sometime in 2016!
